Show Local VFW Auxiliary President Lists Poppy Day Plans The Veterans ct Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post No. 3510 of Cedar City has laid plans for the annual an-nual Poppy Day sale In this city, according to Margery Lampman, president. Saturday.'May 21, all patriotic citizens of the community commu-nity will be asked by the auxiliary auxil-iary to buy a poppy to aid our veterans. The poppies that will be placed on sale are made by disabled veterans, Mrs. Lampman pointed -out. The auxiliary president also issued a statement as to the use of the money raised. Her statement state-ment Is as follows: "The manner In which Buddy Poppy funds are spent is regulated regu-lated by the national bylaws and a set of rules adopted by the National Buddy Poppy committee. commit-tee. Disbursements are strictly confined to the following purposes: pur-poses: . "For the aid, relief, and comfort com-fort of disabled and needy veterans, vet-erans, their dependents, widows and orphans. "For the maintenance or expansion ex-pansion of the V F W National Home for widows and orphans. For hospital or individual assist-ance assist-ance and entertainment for needy veterans or service, patients, and their dependents. "For rehabilitation, welfare and service work, including laiason service with Ihe veterans administration. admin-istration. For necessary expenses for military funerals of deceased veterans. "For acquisition, Improvement and maintenance of burial plots, and decoration of graves of veterans veter-ans and servicemen." Mrs. Lampman further stated that more than one-half of the Buddy Poppy receipts are used for local veteran welfare. |
