Show Air Force Thunderjet To Go On Display at Park An Air Force F-84A Thunder-Jet Thunder-Jet fighter-bomber, modified for public showing, will be on display dis-play at the city park in Cedar City on May 24th. The display is sponsored by the United States Air Force and the Air Force Recruiting Re-cruiting Service. The fighter's wings have been removed and the fighter is mounted on a 40 foot flatbed trailer. Metal side panels have been removed, so the planes jet engine, flight controls and other Intricate equipment can be readily read-ily seen. A special ramp has been installed in-stalled on the plane's trailer for the convenience of spectators wishing to inspect the cutaway aircraft and Its Instrument-packed cockpit. The Thundrjet, produced by Republic Aircraft Corporation, proved itself in the Korean conflict con-flict as a fighter, all-weather interceptor and tactical air support sup-port fighter-bomber. Its Jet engine, which develops 5,000 pounds thrust, gives it a cruising speed of more than GOO miles per hour, a combat radius of over 1,000 miles and a celling of more than 45,000 ft. Armament includes six 50 calibre cal-ibre machine guns, 32 five inch high velocity rockets under the wings or 2,000 pounds of bombs. |
