Show Vernal National Guard holds Xmas party Members of the Vernal National Guard, Company A of the 1457 Engineering Battalion, iheir wives and children enjoyed a Christmas dinner, Saturday afternoon. The unit's cooks prepared the turkey, rolls and drink w lule the w ives provided the salads and desserts. Everyone enjoyed the food which was served buffet style. Lt. Col. Dale Ross was the Master of ' Ceremonies. Door prizes of candy and a ham were won by the following wives: Mrs. Randy Carter, Mrs. Dan Gardiner, Gar-diner, Mrs. Kim Mullins and Mrs. Dale Ross. Before the dinner the wives had the opportunity of meeting one another and socializing. Displays of guard equipment were set up inside the armory as well as the viewing of the heavy equipment outside. out-side. The displays consisted of: mine detectors-metallic and non-metallic, engineer hand tools, electric tool trailer, telephone and radio communications, com-munications, m-60 machine gun, m-16 carbine, and the Tech training film aids. The supply room was open to view the field equipment and weapons storage area. The highlight of the afternoon was Santa Claus' appearance. Each of the children sat on Santa's lap and told him what they wanted for Christmas. Santa then gave each child a small gift. Afterwards Af-terwards Sgt. Ken Serre gave many of the children a ride in a military jeep. The Vernal unit is promoting a recruitment drive to enlist new members.
