Idaho where they attend school. Morton-Merkley at home in Rexburg, Idaho A November 30 wedding at the Salt Lake Temple united Valerie Jean Morton and Kevin L. Merkley. Lorin L. Richards performed the ceremony before relatives and friends from Las Vegas, Nevada, Provo and Vernal. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Bill Morton and Mr. and Mrs. Evert Merkley. All are of Vernal. A wedding breakfast was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Houghton in Magna, Utah. A reception was held December 1 at the Davis Ward Chapel. The bride made her own wedding dress, which was designed with an empire waistline and lace bodice. The long sleeves ended in wide cuffs. She wore a white hand-crocheted hand-crocheted shawl from Paraguay, South America, which her husband had brought to her. On her head she wore a tiara of white mums, carnations and vanda lavender orchids. The bride's sister, Shelly Bodily, attended her. She wore a floor-length, flowered, lavender dress with an orchid corsage. Both mother's wore long lavender gowns with orchid corsages. Brent Merkley served his brother as best man. The hall was decorated with wedding bells and lavender and brown velvet streamers. Vanda orchids and white carnations in brandy snifters decorated the tables. . . ; Colleen Clark and Celeste Merkley were at the guest book; Jane Houghton, Chris Johnson, Diane Morton and Marsha Perry, gift room; Barbara Speirs, Wendy Spaulding, Amy McCabe and Teressa Stubbs, serving and Barbara Southam and LaDonna Smuin were in the kitchen. The two tiered wedding cake was decorated with white scrolls and topped with a miniature Salt Lake Temple. Between the tiers was a kissing couple on a bench. Lavender and brown silk pansies also decorated the cake which was made by the bride's sister, Chris Johnson. Special out-of-town guests attended from Las Vegas, Nevada, Grand Junction, Colorado, and Magna, Provo, Salt Lake City and Roosevelt, Utah. The couple will live in Rexburg, Idaho where they attend school. |
