Baracjffi Abegglen rips Union Cougars for 33 counters 'I'ho Uinluh Utes hopped aboard the 33 point scoring machine by the name of Darian Abegglen and massacred the Union Cougars in Vernal, Thursday by the score 48 to 22. Darian Abegglen scored more points than the entire Union team. Penny Murray popped in the first field goal of the game for 2-0 Uintah lead, and Darian Abegglen gained her first two points for a 4-0 advantage, Union's Davis tossed in a field goal, which cut Uintah's lead to 4-2. However, it was now time for the "Darian Abegglen Show" as she fired in four two-pointers for a 12-4 Uintah advantage at the end of the first quarter. Two filed goals by Union narrowed Uintah's lead to four points, 14-10, but the Utes blazed the court with fast break baskets on layups by Darian Abegglen, Kristy McNeill and a rebound re-bound basket by Rhonda Rhodes, which gave Uintah a 23 to 10 advantage. Union's Arnold fired in two free throws to make the score at the end of the second se-cond quarter, Uintah, 23 and Union, 12. Darian Abegglen burned the Union Cougars once again as she discovered a gold mine in the basket as she struck lor live field goals. Rhonda Rhodes popped pop-ped in two free throws for a 35 to 18 lead alter three quarters of action. Uintah added 13 more points in the fourth quarter and Union put in only four points to make the final score: Uintah, Uin-tah, 48 and Union, 22. Darian Abegglen scored 7 points in the fourth quarter and Chris Molt, Pennie Murray and Lisa Jorgensen tossed in two points each. Darian Abegglen was the top scorer in the game with 33 points. She put in 14 field goals and converted 5 out of 8 free throws. Also scoring points for Uintah were: Pennie Murray, 4; Rhonda Rhodes, 4; Kristy McNeill, 2; Lisa Jorgensen, 2; Chris Molt. 2 and Cindy McUride, 1. Uintah hit 20 out of 49 field goals for 40, and connected on 8 out of 15 free throws for 53. Other free throw marks were: McUride, 1-2; Murray, 0-2 and Rhodes, 2-4. Scoring points for Union High School were: Long, 6; Arnold, 4; Barney, 4; Brighton, 4; Davis, 2; Cloward, 2 and Kent, 2. |
