Uirtf&h sEiins Green Kaer Wolves for fourth victory The Green River Wolves became the fourth Uintah victim as they were clobbered clob-bered by Ute girl cagers, 54 to 28, in Vernal, Friday. The Utes had a 10-4 lead at the end of the first quarter and had a 28-15 advantage after two quarters. Uintah outscored Green River, 13 to 4 for a 41-19 lead in the third quarter. The final score was : Uintah, 54 and Green River, 28. Uintah's top scorer in the game was Kristy McNeill with 23 points. Pennie Murray popped in 10 points. Teresa Smith put in 6 points. Darian Abegglen, who scored 33 points the day before, tossed in two points. Also scoring points for Uintah were: Rhonda Rhodes, 5; Chris Mott, 3; Cindy McBride, 2; Lisa Jorgensen, 2 and Jodene Merkley, 1. McNeill hit 10 out of 12 field goals and converted 3 out of 4 free throws. Uintah put in 20 out of 53 field goals for 37, and connected on 14 out of 26 free throws of 53. The Uintah Utes will host Grand Junction Central, Friday at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., and will battle Meeker in Vernal, Saturday at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Uintah has a 4-2 record. Uintah will battle Provo, Wednesday, December 19 and Green River, Wyoming, Wyom-ing, December 21 on the road. The Utes will host Altamont, December 29 and the first league game is a home encounter en-counter against the Cyprus Pirates on January 10. "I think the kids have improved a great deal. We try to use everyone in ' the games," stated Uintah coach, LoaKay Bowthorpe. |
