The Utes had a one-point lead of 13-12 at the end of the first quarter and had a 23 to HI advantage alter two quarters of action. Uintah increased its lead to 311 to 30 in Ihe third quarter. Union cut Uintah's lead to five points II! to 43 with 3 1 j minutes remaining, hut free throws by Mike Johnson and Dave Emery, and a field goal by a Uintah Utes increased the Vernal team's lead to 52 to 43. Both teams scored eight points the rest of the way to make the final score: Uintah GO and Union 51. Mike Johnson and Dave Emery were the top scorers from the Uintah Utes at 17 points each. Also scoring counters for Uintah were: Devin Wright, 10; Dave Allen, 8; Gary Galley, 4; Handy McNamara, 2 and Scott Peterson, 2. Uintah hit 26 field goals and connected on 8 out of 19 free throws. Free throw marks for Uintah were: McNamara, 0- 1; Allen, 0-1; Emery, 3-D; Johnson, 1- 3; Peterson, 0-1; Wright, 2-2 and Galley, 2-2. Union put in 18 field goals and converted 15 out of 22 free throws. The Uintah Utes had eight -point leads of 18-10 and 28-20 in the first half. They increased the lead 43 to 26 in the third quarter. The final score was: Uintuh 60 and Lehi 43. Mike Johnson was the top scorer in the game for the Utes with 16 points. Gary Galley put in 14 counters.
