Show Youth Council Hears Employment Report A report of the youth employment employ-ment program undertaken this year was made at the meeting of the Cedar City Youth Council by Lonnie Ayers at a recent meeting. Ayers reported that Sandra Knight has been selected as the youth representative for the Youth Employment Center which is located in the basement of the Employment Security office in Cedar City. In addition he stated that Evelyn Heyborne had been named as a Junior from Cedar High School who would work with Miss Knight and assume the same responsibilities for the following year. Each of the girls will receive scholarships through the cooperation cooper-ation of the Rotary Club of Cedar City, he said. The report prepared by Miss Knight indicated that registration registra-tion of boys and girls applying for summer employment of various vari-ous kinds Included a total of 34 girls and 55 boys. Through the program a total of 21 boys were sent to Hurricane to pick cherries. In addition boys have filled placements for various vari-ous types of work including yard work, dishwashing, delivery man, log peeling and handling shingles shin-gles for a roofing project. Requests Re-quests for girls for housework, baby sitting, and a car driver had been received. The report estimated that p.p-poximately p.p-poximately one-third of the girls registered and 50 percent of the boys registered had been placed In these jobs fhrough the newly organized progiam. I |
