Show NEWS FROM PARAGONAH I i Mrs. Hilma Lamortaux Plans are underway for the traditional Independence Day celebration in Paragonah. A public pub-lic meeting will be held in the forenoon and it will feature Miss Sue Dunton as "Goddess of Liberty," Li-berty," Miss Gayle Lund as "Miss Utah" and Gregory Topham as "Uncle Sam." Mrs. Leota Waterman Wa-terman will be the speaker and musical numbers will complete the program. Children's races and sports will follow the meeting and the Building Committee is arranging for lunch which will be sold on the tennis court. Different organizations or-ganizations will have games and booths with the proceeds to go to the Ward Building Fund. President Mrs. Idel-la Idel-la Robinson and a group of teenage teen-age girls went to Five Mile Monday Mon-day to attend the Annual M. I. A. Stake outing. Mr. and Mrs. Chester Robinson traveled to Fish Lake Recreation area on Friday to attend a reunion re-union of the Arch Lamoreaux family. On Saturday the Robinsons enjoyed en-joyed a visit from Idella's neice, Mrs. Charles Rhode and her husband hus-band and two daughters of Og-den. Og-den. They had been touring the Parks and spent part of the day in Paragonah. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Robb and their daughter, Ginger, took a trip to Salt Lake City last week spending Friday and Saturday there. Mr. Robb was a delegate to the Democratic Convention. Kathy Edwards of Cedar City and Elaine Robinson of Parowan are visiting here this week with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Robinson. Mrs. Alice Robinson has been In poor health of late and was taken to the hospital In Cedar City on Saturday for intravelnous feeding and other treatment. Mr. and Mrs. Kent Talbot and family of Downey, Calif., arrived ar-rived on Sunday to spend a week visiting with Kent's people, Mr. and Mrs. Renford Talbot and with Joy's people in Parowan. Mr. and Mrs. James L Maxwell of Glendale were week end visitors vi-sitors at the Wilson Lund home. Mr. and Mrs. Murl Gibson and daughter, Kathy, and Mr. and Mrs. Delwyn Maxwell and baby of Cedar City visited at the Lund home on Sunday. Steve Knecht of Boutiful arrived ar-rived here on Wednesday of last week to spend the summer with the Lester Williamson family. Mr. and Mrs. John Leffler came from California last week to spend some time at their summer home here. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Lister moved here from Kanab some weeks ago and Jack has undergone surgery sur-gery recently. Mr. and Mrs. Burgess Robinson Robin-son and their small daughter of Murray were here for the week end with the K. Doyle Robinsons. On Saturday the entire family got together at Wood's Ranch in Cedar Canyon for a family reunion. re-union. In addition to Mr. and Mrs. Robinson and Burgess and his family the group included the Bert Walker, Victor Mathe-son, Mathe-son, Kay Robinson and David Skougaard families of Cedar City. Paul and Mildred Workman of Tooele were here for an overnight over-night visit with Mildred's mother, Mrs. Lasca Hunt, on Friday of last week. They brought the little lit-tle Misses Lorl Kaye, Julie Ann and Kristi Lynn Hunt of Stockton Stock-ton with them to spend a few days withh Grandma Hunt. Mrs. Hunt will be taking the girls home on Tuesday and will stay a day or two in Stockton as her son, Bernell, is to undergo stomach surgery during the week. Mrs. Owen Jones, Mr. and Mrs. Marion Englestead and Mrs. Le-ona Le-ona Stones Were in St. George on Saturday to attend a temple session with the Rodney Bentley family of Parowan. Wayne Bettridge, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Bettridge, who has been in Germany for the past three and one half years arrived home on leave on June 16th and will have a month before reporting report-ing to Washhington for his next assignment. Wayne's German bride, Dee, arrived on the 21st by way of California where she visited for a few days with a sister. The Bettridge family is enjoying enjoy-ing the reunion and have been to Beaver to spend some time with Monti and his family. Roy Talbot of Kaysville arrived ar-rived here on Sunday to spend some time with his father, Walter Wal-ter Talbot. Mr. and Mrs. Elwin Ball and five children of Sparks, Nev., were In town on Saturday visiting visit-ing with Ethel Marr's relatives, the Boardmans and Andersons. |
