Show Minor League Thrown Into Tie With Win By Cardinals Giants 3 1 Carlinals 3 1 Pirates 2 2 Red Sox 1 2 Dodgers 1 2 Braves 0 3 During the past week the minor min-or league was thrown into a tie for first when the Cardinals lost their first game of the season and the Giants picked up three important wins. Thursday's action saw the Cardinals Car-dinals beating the Red Sox soundly by a score of 15 to 0. Dennis Bowler wat the winning pitcher, but the big hit of the day was a triple by John Barrus. In the second game of the day the Giants handed the Braves a resounding defeat by the score of 23 to 4. Brent Baumgartner was the winning pitcher, and Chris Marchant had a good day at the plate as he went three for three. Friday's game were more tame than the previous day's round. The Pirates beat the Cardinals, handing them their first defeat of the season by an 8 to 5 score. Ricky Dotson was the winning pitcher. This game was characterized charac-terized by few hits and good fielding. In the second game of the day the Giants beat the Dodgers Dodg-ers by a score of 9 to 6. Chris Mahant was the winning pitcher pitch-er and contributed three hits for as many times at bat to help his cause. Monday's contests were close encounters. This was a game between the Cardinals and the Braves. Dennis Bowler handled the mound chores for the Cardinals and turned in a fine effort to give the Cardinals a 12-0 12-0 victory.
