Show Final Details Rushed for Opening Of Parowan Swimming Pool Friday Before last week's issue of the Record, carrying a story of the 1 opening of the new Parowan swimming pool, was in the mail, troubles began which at first looked to be very serious, and likely to postpone the opening of the pool for a time. Wednesday muddy water started start-ed entering the pool through the filtering system, which indicated indi-cated a broken pipe either un der the pool floor or the pool deck. The muddy water also came up through a deck expansion expan-sion joint on the south end of the pool. This gave an indicat-tion indicat-tion of where the break was, and workers broke a hole in the concrete con-crete deck, antl followed down to the break. Luckily, the trouble was located lo-cated here antl a pipe was found to be broken in two places. This pipe was repairetl or replaced and this apparently has taken care of the trouble. Precautions were taken so this couldn't happen again. The break caused much extra filtering and cleaning. In spite of this, preparations were going ahead Tuesday evening eve-ning for a Friday opening of the new pool, although some items of work may not be completed by opening day. The two change rooms will be ready for use, we understand, with showers, wash basins and toilets installed, and both rooms have received their first coat of paint. Workmen are making electrical electri-cal connections on the Butane gas heating plant, so that the water heating could get under way, probably Wednesday. The water in the pool his been pumped pump-ed though the filter and chlorin-ator chlorin-ator for a time prior to Tuesday evening and after the furnace is ready the water will be routett through the heating system as well. F. C. Van Burean, who has been a constant attendant at the pool for a long time, states that the water in the pool will be maintained at a temperature of betwen 82 and 85 degrc-s. Lowell Caloweii has been er ployed by Parowan City as po manager antl he has been working work-ing in close harmony with members mem-bers of the pool committee in getting it ready for use. He and Mrs. Caldwell have called for registration of those who want to take swimming lessons, on Friday. So it all looks like the pocl opening will take place this week end as had been planned, even though it may be a day late. |
