Show Activities Are Outlined for Fitting Independence Day Celebration Bryce Adams, chairman of the Parowan City Recreation Committee, Com-mittee, which has charge of arranging ar-ranging for the observance of Independence Day, Saturday, July Ju-ly 1, states that plans are going go-ing forward for a fitting celebration celebra-tion to honor the nation's birthday. birth-day. The program for the day will begin with a daybreak salute, and continue with a parade at 10 a. m., a patriotic meeting at 11 a. m., with sports and games for the young people following the meeting. The afternoon will be taken up by the Red Hill Wranglers, who will stace their annual Race Meet and Amateur Rodeo. This will be staged at the City race track and rodeo grounds beginning begin-ning at 2 p. m. A detailed account ac-count of this is given in another story in the Parowan section of this paper. Mr. Adams has called upon the Parowan Lions Club to sponsor the parade, Parowan Post No. 20 of the American Legion and its auxility will sponsor the public meeting and the Chamber of Commerce will conduct the sports program for the children. Caudell Orton is chaiiman of the parade committee for the Lions Club and states that it will go along a patriotic theme. It will start at 0 p. m., with participants par-ticipants to gather on 100 South Street in front of the County Rest Home by 9:30 a. m. The parade route will bo down the city's Main Street from 100 South to the Seminary on 2K) North, and then return to the starting point. Substantial cash prizes will be awarded to prize winning floats in the parade. Earl Bunn, Legion commander, and Mrs. Lewis Dalton, Auxiliary president, have arranged the program for the patriotic meeting which will follow the parade and be held in the Third Ward chapel. Gaylord Whitney, former Parowan Paro-wan resident, will be the featured fea-tured speaker on the program, and there will be short talks by Hyatt Bentley as Uncle Sam, Gay Rowley as Goddess of Liberty, and Margaret Truman, as Miss Utah.
