GEORGIA MOYLE I WOMEN'S CLUB The June meeting of the Es-calante Es-calante Valley Women's Club was held at the home of Mrs. Mary Moyle, who acted as hostess host-ess with Mrs. Frances Piper as co-hostess. Club meeting was conducted by Pat Moyle, president. presi-dent. Final plans for the Fourth of July Fireworks and food sale sponsored annually by the women's wo-men's club, were made. The wo-ment wo-ment preparing recipes of the Es-calante Es-calante Valley Cook Book were given until July for the project. The remainder of club time was turned over to the hostesses for game and refreshments. Prizes were won by Mae Pick-rell, Pick-rell, Miriam MeGarry, Doris Ped-erson, Ped-erson, George and Mary Moyle. Door prize was won by Francis Piper. A daughter-in-law was a special guest with Mrs. Mae Pick-rell Pick-rell and a guest of Mrs. Juani-ta Juani-ta Butler was Mrs. John Lyon of Santa Monica. FAREWELL TESTIMONIAL A very impressive missionary farewell was held for Evan A. Thorley at the Enterprise First-Second First-Second Ward chapel on Saturday evening, June 20. Evan is the son of Richard and Edna Thorley of Mcdena. He has two sister, Ann T. Terry and Helen. Hel-en. Those from away attending the testimonial were his grandmother, grand-mother, Mrs. Ethel Ashley of Holden; an uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Garr Achley and family fam-ily of Holden; an uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Heath and ; family of Ely, Nev., Mrs. Heath Is Mrs. Thorley's sister. Richard's sister, Margaret Griner, and two girls from Salinas, Calif., came for the testimonial. Phillip Thorley Thor-ley and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Cox attended from Cedar City. A family dinner was held at the home of Evan's brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Carlos Terry, prior to the program. pro-gram. Evan entered the mission home June 29 prior to his departure depar-ture for the Eastern U. S. Mission. Mis-sion. CHURCH ACTIVITY Among those attending MIA Conference at Salt Lake were Wrru Hunt and two daughters, Carol and Gaylene; Mr. and Mrs. Stanford Holt, Ferrol and Karen Talt, Nellie and Georgia Moyle. FUNERAL HELD Funeral services were held on Monday, June 22, in Phoenix, Ariz., for Rev. Sam Paglia, pastor pas-tor of First Baptist Church at Beryl, Utah. Surviving Rev. Paglia Pag-lia are his wife Deborah, his daughter Sherie, and son Stephen. Steph-en. The church at Beryl will continue con-tinue under the direction of Gospel Gos-pel Wings, who fly here each Sunday for services at 11 a. m. and 7 p. m. Sunday School is held each Sunday at 10 a. m. FAMILY REUNION The Del Vecchio Family reunion reun-ion was held Saturday and Sunday, Sun-day, June 20 and 21 at the homes of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Del Vecchio and Mr. and Mrs. Bryner Wood. Relatives coming here for the reunion were: Mrs. Mavel Del Vecchio and her sister, Mrs. Em Hedman; Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Gillette Gil-lette and family, all from Salt Lake City; James Dell and his daughters from Bullshead, Ariz.; Mr. and Mrs. Larry Burney and baby from Las Vegas; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Flinspach, Modena; Mrs. MarV Young and family from South Gate, Calik. AROUND ABOUT Carol Hunt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. T. Hunt of Beryl, won a 4-H Home Improvement trip to Salt Lake City where she was privileged to visit several Ideal homes and spend an evening eve-ning in tie Governor's home. Carol was one of 29 girls who represented different parts of the State of Utah. She was the only girl south of Nephi on this side of the mountain. The 4-H organization plans to make this home improvement project an annual affair hereafter. here-after. Girls from 15 years of age up may be eligible for this. Mr. and Mrs. John Lyon and son Johnny of Santa Monica, Calif., spent a week at the El-Escalante El-Escalante Valley Farms. Visitors at the Clayton Bracken Brack-en home at Modena were two of Mrs. Bracken's brothers and families, fam-ilies, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Bowler Bow-ler and daughter Carol Lynn of California, and Mr. and Mrs. Kay Bowler; also Mr. Bracken's folks, Mr. and Mrs. Austin Bracken and son Kent of Central, Utah, and Dorman Elsemore and Mr. James Hardy, an uncle, from Milford. Mrs. Betty Bracken and two brothers and wives, the Wallace and Kay Bowlers, went on to Tur-lock, Tur-lock, Calif., where they attended the graduation of their brother Bruce. Here they visited with their mother, Mrs. Lula Ortiz. Saundraw and Patsy Bracken went to Salt Lake City with their uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Bowler, where they spent a few days. Joan Bracken met an aunt, Mrs. Clara Bowler at Beaver. They traveled to Rigby, Idaho, for a few days then back to Logan where Clarice graduated from the Utah State University. |
