Show Full Schedule J Activities Fir Galea lG.depee.dle.ice Bcay Mf All is in readiness for an outstanding out-standing Independence Day celebration cel-ebration to be held in the Iron County area. Events will be underway Friday Fri-day evening when the Iron Rangers Riding Club holds the first of two night rodeo events at the arena at Cedar Canyon. Rodeo will be held both Friday and Saturday evenings with the grand march slated to begin at 7 p. m. both evenings. Saturday July 4 a full day of events Is planned including a Sunrise salute at 6 a. m. and events will conclude that evening by an Independence Day Fireworks Fire-works Display under the direction direc-tion of the Cedar City Volunteer Fire Department. In between will be a host of events including a Minature Parade, concessions and games at the Cedar City Park, a Little League baseball game and rodeo events In Parowan during the afternoon af-ternoon and another evening rodeo ro-deo In Cedar Canyon. The annual miniature Parade conducted by the Cedar City Lady La-dy Lions will get underway at 9:30 a. m. with all floats to be registered by 9 a. m. at the parade par-ade starting point at Main Street and 200 South Street. Theme of the parade is "America, Past, Present and Future." Three divisions di-visions will be included including includ-ing the theme, nursery rhyme, and a division for tricycles, bicycles bi-cycles and buggies. Special cash awards will be presented in each. The Cedar Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will coi.'i let activities on the Cedar City Park beglning at 8:00 a. m. According to Ed Hahne, general gener-al chairman all of the concession conces-sion booths and events that have been operated in the past will be held. On sale will be candy, soda so-da pop, popcorn, snow cones, hamburgers, hot dogs and other tasty morsels such as cotton candy. In operation will be the ducking pond that was previously previous-ly set up and built by the Elks Lodges along with all the other concession booths of ball pitching, pitch-ing, dart throwing and many others with prizes galore. All activities ac-tivities will be conducted on a ticket basis with members of the High Priest Quorum of the stake taking charge of the ticket sale booths. All concessions will be operated by various quorums. In addition children's races will be staged during the forenoon in j- effort to ji-.'- v ryons m n ftn-portunity ftn-portunity to participate. It Is expected that the concession conces-sion operations will continue until un-til noon. At Parowan two days of Horse Racing and one day of added rodeo ro-deo events will be held as a major ma-jor attraction during the after noon hours. Under the direction of the Red Hill Wranglers racing will be held Friday afternoon and racing rac-ing with rodeo events between rC2s will be held Saturday. Post time both days has been set at 2 p. m. Also in Cedar City Saturday at 1 p. m. will be a regular Little League baseball game to pit Milne against Webster of the America League. In addition the Auxiliary of the American League composed of mothers of players, will operate a booth with candy, soda pop, barbecued hamburgers and other refreshments refresh-ments available to the public. The second evening of rodeo events at the Cedar Canyon area will get underway Saturday ( evening at 7 p. m. under the direction dir-ection of the Iron Rangers Riding Rid-ing Club. The Hey Cedars Square Dance Club Invites the public to Join them in square dancing at the City Park at 8:30 p. m. The entire celebration will be culminated at 9 p. m. with a gigantic gi-gantic fireworks display to be staged on the foothills east of Cedar City. Those parking near the baseball complex will be of-fered of-fered an excellent view of the display. Contributions will also be solicited by members of the Lions Club for next year'a exhibit, ex-hibit, It was announced. |
