Show i District and State Tournaments for Little I League Announced by Utah Representative District and state tournament dates and sites were announced this week following drawings held in the southern and northern north-ern divisions of Utah, Yorke Nelson, Nel-son, district administrator, announced. an-nounced. District level tournament play will be held throughout the state on July 23, 21 and 25 with two tournaments in the southern division di-vision and two In the northern division. The four division winners will meet July 31 and Aug. 1 in a state tournaments to be held at Dugway. This year, for the first time In a number of seasons, Utah has been divided into two divisions with leagues from Fillmore on north comprising the northern sector and those south, the southern south-ern sector. Two tournaments in the north will be under the direction of the newly appointed administ-a-tor, Tom Blakely of Rose Crest League in Salt Lake City. In the southern Division, according ac-cording to Nelson, district tour- .naments will be held at Caliente, Nev., and at St. George. Pairings for the two tournaments tourna-ments were selected by drawings conducted by Nelson last week. Lincoln County Little League will host the tournament at Caliente Cal-iente which will include the host team. Cedar American League, Milford, San Juan, Beaver Bea-ver and Panguitch. First round pairings pit San Juan against Beaver, Cedar American against Milford and Lincoln against Panguitch. Pan-guitch. Winner of the San Juan-Beaver Juan-Beaver game will draw the second sec-ond round bye. Five teams will comprise the St George District tournament. They Include the Cedar National, both the St. George Sunrise and St. George Sunset teams, Trl-City and West Zion. West Zion draws a bye for the first day's competition and will meet the winner of the Cedar National Na-tional and St. George Sunset opening op-ening day game. Winner of the St. George Sunrise and the Tri-City Tri-City league will draw a bye into the championship game. |
