Show Third Ward Scout Ticop Winner of Special Cash Award Boy Scout Troop 313 of the Parowan Third Ward, hit the jack pot on Sunday evening at the regular monthly court of honor of the Brian Head District of the Utah Parks Council which was held at the Enoch Ward chapel. According to George Banks, Brian Head District commissioner, commission-er, who conducted the court of honor in the absence of W. Clair Rowley, advancement chairman, Troop 313 was awarded the regular reg-ular $5.00 cash prize for winning first place in the district for its activities during the past three months. Then, the troop was judged as the winner of a special spe-cial prize of $25.(K) for having the most advancements, etc. at the Sunday night honor court. This latter prize was given as :i special award, with the Parowan Paro-wan Lions Club donating $15 of the award, Dyle Adams, S5.00 and the W. Clair Rowley Insurance Insur-ance Agency the other $5.00 for the total. The money is to be used to help defray the expenses of the troop to a summer camp, either ei-ther Lost Camp or Maple Dell, whichever the troop selects. Don Applegate presented the check for the Lions Club portion of the award, to the winning troop. Advancement and merit badges-given badges-given out during the evening, went to the following scouts in the district: Troop 313. Jud Hendrickson, an Eagle Palm; Frank Burton and Jerry D. Robinson, Star awards; Richard Adams, Larry Day, Roy Barton, Ronald Johnson, Ricky Rowley, First Class. Merit badges went to Richard Adams, Chris Applegate, Ap-plegate, Roy Barton, Allen Bess, Paul Chamberlain, Richard Dur-bin, Dur-bin, Jud Hendrickson, Milton Hu-let, Hu-let, Ronald Johnson, Kenneth Orton, Or-ton, Ricky Rowley, Robert Rowley Row-ley Guy Rowley and Larry Van Ausdal. Troop 319, Second Ward: Ra mon Banks. Eagle Palm and mer It badge; Jim Evans, First Class and merit badge; Eugene Adams and Del Hulet, merit badges. Troop 33T, Enoch: Randolph Marie, Star Award and merit badge. Grant Sherratt, Life award and merit badge; Wm. Sherratt, Douglas Grimshaw and Steven Harnett, merit badges. The opening and closing cere monies at this court of honor were conducted by the Enoch Wanl troop. |
