Show Kiwanis Takes Little League Lead j Kiwanls 5 0 1.000 Milne 1 4 .800 Webster 1 4 .200 Rotary 0 5 .000 Kiwanls Jumped into a lead for the second half championship in the American Little League this past week with a 9 to 2 victory over arch rival Milne. The victory vic-tory separated the two teams, who finished in a deadlock for the first half title, by one game with Webster and Rotary now I virtually out of the running. Chris Bulloch and Crea McMul-lin McMul-lin were on the mound for the visitors and they allowed only two hits to the hard hitting Milne crew. Kiwanls collected a total of nine hits including doubles doub-les by David Barrus, Crea Mc-Mullin, Mc-Mullin, Michael Wood and Sterling Ster-ling Simklns off pitchers Mike Majors, Merril Williams and Tommy Higbee. Websters moved out of the cellar cel-lar during the week with a close 17 to 16 battle over Rotary. Nolan No-lan Anderson and Mike Savage shared mound duties in the win with Greg Woods and Bernie Leavitt suffering the loss. Dale Mosdell and Glen Miller homered homer-ed in the game for Rotary and Robin Haight belted round trippers trip-pers for Webster. Doubles were hit by Mosdell for Rotary and by Lance Whetten of Webster. Kiwanis continued their winning win-ning ways with a 9 to 7 win over Rotary with Sterling Simklns, Sim-klns, David Barrus and Jeff Carr on the mound. Rotary In the losing effort sent Glen Miller, Bill Heyborne and Charles Mosdell Mos-dell to the mound. Michael Wood of Kiwanis and Lynn Hatch of Rotary homered in the game and Jeff Carr of Kiwanis doubled. Saturday Milne belted out a 16 to 4 win over Webster with Merrill Mer-rill Williams and Bubba Burns allowing Webster only three hits. Mike Savage and Ronnie Adams were on the mound for the losers. Williams was the big gun at the plate with three for three including includ-ing a home run and two doubles. Lance Whetten doubled for Websters. Web-sters. Kiwanis had another squeeker Monday when they defeated Webster 8 to 7 to stay on top of the standings. Chris Bulloch, Da. vid Barrus and Crea McMullln all saw mound duty for the winners. win-ners. Ronnie Adams went the distance for Webster in a losing cause. Bruce Johnson, Ronnie Adams and Lance Whetten all doubled for Webster. Only extra base hit for the victors was a double by McMullin. Tuesday evening Milne pounded pound-ed out a 7 to 3 win over Rotary. Extra base hits included doubles by Bernie Leavitt and Dale Mosdell Mos-dell of Rotary and Lyle Heyborne and Mike Majors of Milne. Tommy Tom-my Higbee and Lyle Heyborne were on the mound for Milne and Charles Mosdell suffered the loss |
