Show BAC Poetry Recital Unique in Utah, Heads Claim The eighth annual poetry recital reci-tal sponsored by the Branch Agricultural Ag-ricultural college apeecn" department depart-ment was presented Wednesday evening In the college auditorium, auditor-ium, featuring BAC students, alumni and four grade school pupils. The recital, featuring the reading read-ing of poetry of all kinds, has grown from a classroom activity activi-ty to an event of Importance in the community. The program is the only one of its kind in the state so far as is known. It was started through the efforts of Prof. Twain Tippetts with his class in the reading of poetry in order to increase the public consciousness of poetry and promote pro-mote its appreciation among all people. Besides 17 students of Professor Profes-sor Tippett's poetry class, three of his former students, Don Knight, Ann Okerlund Leavitt, and Bctte Larson, participated. Foru elementary school pupils were selected by Miss Bee Roberts Rob-erts and Miss Ann Ashcroft, teachers In the West elementary school to appear on the program. The pupils will recite poetry of their own choice, as did the college col-lege students and alumni. One original composition, "If I Were a Boy," was given by its author, Pat Thompson freshman co-ed from Las Vegas. |
