Show Freedom Crusade Opened In Iron County With Prof. Edwin L. Peterson of Branch Agricultural college, and Conway Parry, American Legion Le-gion post commander and soil conservation service official, at the helm. Iron county's 1952 Crusade Cru-sade for Freedom got under way during (he week and has been gaining momentum which Indicates Indi-cates the area will be a Utah pace setter in the anti-communism drive. The full slate of activities directed di-rected by Professor Peterson and Mr. Parry drew praise from Bir-ney Bir-ney K. Farnsworth, Utah chairman, chair-man, as he sent a special appeal to Iron county residents to support sup-port their leaders in the drive and "make this fight against communism a personel one." The Crusade, now in its third annual appeal, "is the only avenue ave-nue by which Utahns and Americans Ameri-cans generally can personally join the fight against the spread of communism," said Mr. Farnsworth. To date some 25,000,000 Americans, Ameri-cans, including some 200,000 Utahns, have made the fight a personal one by donating $3,500,-000 $3,500,-000 toward operation of the hardhitting, hard-hitting, truth-casting Radio Free Europe and Radio Free Europe networks, whose programs are piercing the Iron and Bamboo curtains and upsetting the Kremlin's Krem-lin's timetable of conquer and I assimilate toward world domination, domina-tion, the Utah chairman pointed out. "Every Utahn adhors communism commu-nism and its threat to our God-given God-given freedom," the chairman continued. "This campaign makes it possible for them to demonstrate their feelings and we anticipate that some 300,000 of them will respond." A dramatic phase of the campaign, cam-paign, said Mr. Peterson, will be the Crusade-fashioned "Free-domgram" "Free-domgram" messages, by which Iron county residents may send personal message of hope and goodwill to people of satellite nations. |
