Show Citizens, Police Make j Car Thieves Capture Look Simple "Our experience in having cars Ftolen last week prompts us to warn people generally about carelessness on minor details, and also to express our appreciation appre-ciation for the fine cooperation of two young citizens of Cedar City and of the police of Cedar City and southern Utah," said Mr. and Mrs. Henry Smith, after i their car had been stolen on Main street in the middle of the i afternoon. Mrs Smith reported that she parked the car on Main street and went into a store to do some shopping, forgetting to remove the key from the car. Moments later Diane Nelson and Virginia Ciark, two young Cedar Citv la dies, located her and told of seeing see-ing two boys and a girl enter the car and drive off. The Cedar City police were notified immediately with descriptions of the car and j the young people furnished to them. An immediate chase resulted re-sulted and about an hour later the young people abandoned the car between Beaver and Milfdrd and attempted to escape into the hills. They were unsuccessful, however, and have been returned to Arizona where they were wanted want-ed on charges of automobile theft. Mr. and Mrs. Smith express appreciation for the prompt action ac-tion of Miss Nelson and Miss Clark in reporting the theft, and for the quick response and cooperation coop-eration of all police officers concerned. |
