Show DREAM BARS ADD CHEER TO HOLIDAYS $y Marii Gifford -'f C Sk Comes the Christmas season and all of us bring out our favorite cooky recipes. One of the most poputar ones we've found is a luscious, rich, chewy dream bar that literally melts in the mouth. In the midst of all the hectic last minute preparations that go with the holidays, you'll be pleased to discover that these dream bars are so very simple and quick to make. You don't even need to get out your rolling pin. To keep the cookies at their best, store them in an air tight container. con-tainer. But we warn you, if you plan to save them for a special occasion, oc-casion, youll have to hide the container once the family discovers how deliriously good these bars are. The dream bars are made in two layers. The first layer is baked for bout 15 minutes and then a second layer is spread over it The pan is returned to the oven to finish baking for another 15 to 20 minutes. Do try this recipe before the holidays are over. Dream bars make hospitality easy when friends drop in to say, "Merry Christmas." DREAM BARS cup butter or margarine H cup brown sugar teaspoon salt 1 cup sifted all-purpose flour Mix above ingredients well and pat into unoiled 9 x 12 inch pan. Bake 15 minutes in 350 F. oven or until slightly brown. Blend following ingredients in-gredients and spread over above layer. I cup brown sugar '4 teaspoon baking powder 1 teaspoon vanilla H teaspoon salt 2 epgs, well beaten tV4 cups shredded cocoanut 2 tablespoons flour 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans Bake 15 or 20 minutes in 350 F. oven. Cut while still warm. Makes 30 cookies 1x2 inches. |
