Show Commissions Offered By U.S. Navy; ' Inactive or Active ' Inactive and active fluty commissions com-missions are now being offered ' by the U. S. Navy. Draft eligible men may apply for the active duty billets only, whereas men who are not ..draft eligible may apply for active or inactive duty. There are two types of commis- sions in the Navy, viz: Line and Staff. To apply for a line commission com-mission one must be 19 but not 27 years of age. For restricted line and staff one must be 19 but not 33 years of age. .In all cases an applicant must be a college graduate except that a college senior may apply 120 days prior to graduation; final acceptance is always contingent upon receipt re-ceipt of degree. Many of the billets bil-lets assigned will parallel the applicant's college major. An applicant applying for an inactive duty commission must agree to take correspondence courses and to become affiliated with an organized Naval Reserve unit which usually meets once per week. He will also be ex-Dected ex-Dected to take a two-week cruise each year or other training in' his specific field. A draft eligible applicant who, is accepted will be sent to Newport, New-port, R. I., for Indoctrination. Up-1 on successfully completing his indoctrination he will be commissioned com-missioned an Ensign. He must also agree to serve on active duty du-ty for three years, and remain in the Naval Reserve for five additional ad-ditional years. Naval Reserve commissions in the Line, supply, nurse, medical service and dental corps are also available for women applicants. |
