Show Letters to the Editor Welcomed Letters to the Editor, for publication, in the columns of the Iron County Record are not only welcome, but asked for. We feel that the people of Cedar City and surrounding surround-ing towns have some definite and constructive opinions on many important activities or problems, and we invite them to express those opinions through the columns of the Iron County Record. Nearly every day some individual citizen expresses his or her opinion orally to us about some important community com-munity problem or condition. The subjects they discuss cover a wide range, and in most cases the individual has some definite and worthwhile opinion on the problem or activity under discussion. We would like to pass those opinions or suggestions on to the public, and invite anyone any-one interested in voicing an opinion on any subject of general public welfare to use the columns of the Record for that purpose. There Is always some important problem, proposal or undertaking before the people of the community that should be discussed publicly by those interested in it, and we feel that a letter to the Editor is a good way for these people to get their ideas before the public. At the present time there are several important issues is-sues before the City Council on which nearly everyone has an opinion. Incuuded among these are the proposed new ordinance that will make several important changes in the zoning regulations of Cedar City; the perplexing garbage gar-bage collection problem, and the location of a new site for the garbage dump; the ever present parking problem, and the traffic safety on the streets of the city. Another important im-portant matter is that of holiday entertainment for the teenagers of the city. We invite the opinions of our readers on these subjects, sub-jects, or any others that may come to their mind. We will welcome your letters, and will publish any that we feel offers constructive discussion or criticism on any important import-ant subject. However, we would prefer that each letter be brief, preferably not more than 300 or 350 words. Personal attacks on any individual or group will not be accepted. All letters absolutely must be signed by the writer, with permission to use the name on the published letter. Frequently Fre-quently people seek to have an opinion published under some such name as "A Friend", "An Observor", or "Interested "In-terested Citizen," but we feel that if an opinion is worth expressing it is worth signing. We know that a signed letter let-ter carries more weight and weilds greater influence. Please let us hear from you soon. |
