Show Effective last Wednesday Deseret First Credit purchases Bonneville First Credit Union By MARK EDDINGTON Staff Writer BOUNTIFUL Deseret First Credit Union announced an-nounced Thursday the acquisition of Bonneville First Credit Union in Bountiful. The purchase of the credit union, located on 390 S. Main, went into effect last Wednesday and will give Deseret First Credit Union four locationstwo in Salt Lake City and one in Murray, besides the new Bountiful Boun-tiful branch. "We welcome the members of Bonneville First Credit Union into our credit union and hope other members of the Bountiful community will take advantage advan-tage of this full-service location," said credit union president N. Keith Carroll in a prepared statement. Deseret First Credit Union was organized by employees of the LDS church 36 years ago, but has since expanded its membership. According to executive ex-ecutive vice-president Ed Richardson, all Davis County Coun-ty citizens are eligible for membership. Richardson said there are already over 2,000 credit union members in South Davis County, which he said was a key factor in the decision to acquire Bonneville. "This gives a better base to market, not only to existing ex-isting members, but to future members and makes our financial services more convenient to where our members live," he said. The acquisition will increase the credit union's membership base and assets, allowing the financial institution to offer increased services and better savings sav-ings and loan packages, Richardson said, listing Visa Credit Cards as one new option to be offered credit union members. As part of the purchase, Richardson said the current credit union staff will be retained. Carol Mitchell will serve as the branch manager. The credit union will employ five people. There will be a grand opening celebration April 15, from noon to 6:00 p.m., with management and staff on hand to meet with members. Deseret First Credit Union is the ninth largest credit union in Utah, with $54 million in assets and over 24,000 members. |
