Swimmers excel in Junior Olympics OREM Nine Bountiful area swimmers representing the Steiner Aquatic Center in Salt Lake City competed in the Utah Short Course Olympics March 14-16 in Orem. Katie Phillip captured the first place, high point trophy in the girls 10 and under class. Phillip achieved four USS AA times in the 100 free, 100 breast, 200 IM and 50 free. Kyle Pierce swam to a second place high point trophy in the boys' 10 and under division simming to AA times in the 100 free and 100 breast. Jason Smith finished sixth place overall in the boys' 13-14 class, including in-cluding a second place finish in the 200 fly. Meanwhile, Ben Simmons swam to a first place finish in the 1,650 free and the 50 free. Other Bountiful swimmers who placed in the Junior Olympic Competition Com-petition include, Shane Waterbury who placed in the 50, 100 and 200 freestyle; Chad Paluso who placed in the 100 free and Jeff Baker in the 100 free.
