Show AO-piece exhibit is on display at BDA C BOUNTIFUL A 40-piece exhibit of Western Americana art is on display at the BountifulDavis Art Center until April 19. The collection, on loan from the University of Utah Museum of Fine Arts, includes oil paintings, watercolors, lithographs, etchings, wool blankets and other artifacts depicting life in the American West during the latter 19th century. Though all the pieces were donated to the museum between 1926 and 1985, many of the art works have an earlier origin, with some being created as early as 1855. The Western theme is developed through landscapes, cowboys, early town buildings and Indian blankets. Some of the more notable town panoramas are of Salt Lake City, the Willow Springs Wells Fargo Office and the Utah Territorial Prison. Landscape paintings are also very much in evidence and include views of the Great Salt Lake, the Wasatch Mountains and the Valley of the Babbling Babbl-ing Waters in southern Utah. The arts center, located on 2175 South Main, is open Mondays at 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.; Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. |
