Show Board mulls tax levy TREMONTON The Box Elder School Board will consider a one-half mill levy tax increase, which would raise about $400,000 for the school district, at its Wednesday board meeting. State legislators in the 1990 session passed a measure allowing local school boards to raise the levy by two mills for reduction of class sizes. The school board elected to take a $400,000 surplus out of capital outlay to be used in the first year for class reduction rather than raise the mill levy. The surplus money has been used up, and the board has reached the point where it must increase the tax levy to continue with the program or cut back. |
