Show 4A girls, boys win all-star b-ball matchups rvAw 1 0& ...- X r u, ; Ifr"1rl MURRAY Davis High senior forward Bret Barton led his fellow 4A all-stars to a 126-104 victory vic-tory over the 3A all-star team in a run and gun shootout that resembled resembl-ed an NBA match more than a prep contest Barton's game-high 30 points, 14 of which came in the first quarter alone, paced the 4A team in the annual an-nual all-star affair held Friday night at Murray High School. Barton paced the Davis Darts averaging almost 20 points per game. The Darts finished second in Region 1 competition and claimed a fifth place finish in the 1991 state basketball tournament. The 4A team took an early lead and never looked back. The 3A all-stars, all-stars, led by Ben Lomond's Ryan Nebeker who scored a team high of 21, stayed within reach of their opponents op-ponents until 33-12 4A run in the third boosted the 4A team to a 98-67 98-67 lead. The deficit proved to be too much for the 3A all-stars. Joining Barton in double figures for the 4A team were Brian Rasmus sen of Orem and Derrick Welling of Brighton who both logged 16. Matt Lohner of Provo sank 12, while Cottonwood's Justin Weidauer and Highland's Kerry Hicks logged 10. Qaiming 3A high-scoring honors behind Nebeker were Pine View's r Jed Christensen who scored 1 6 and Ogden's Tramyne Watson who finished fin-ished with 1 5 . Emery s Jared Butler, Sky View's Scott Jackson and Union's Tai Riser each logged 12. Girls' 4A, 3A All-Star Game SANDY Like their 4A boys all-star counterparts, the 4A lady all-stars overwhelmed their 3A opponents; op-ponents; however, the 4A girls showed no mercy, trouncing the 3A team 72-36 Friday night at Alta High School. Bingham's Kae Cee Arnold finished fin-ished the contest as the game's leading scorer, logging 14. Arnold was followed by Jody Mckay, who logged 10 points and was honored as Region 1 player of the year in a halftime ceremony. The 3A-4A battle also featured Bountiful High's Nikki Hanni, who was the only south Davis lady hoopster in the competition. Though Hanni set a blistering pace this season for the Lady Braves, averaging well over 25 points per game and leading them to a sixth place finish in the state tournament, tour-nament, she only managed two points in Friday's matchup. The 3A high scoring honors went to Ogden's Pam Price, who finished with five points. The 4A girls jumped to an early 27-15 lead after the first period and held the 3A team to a meager four points in the second to take an overwhelming 42-19 lead at the half. The 3 A girls were held to only 17 points in the second half.
