Show Gourde appointed James M. Gourde, 19, a 1990 graduate of Judge Memorial High School and currently a cadet enrolled enroll-ed at New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell, N.M., has received a prestigious appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, Colo. Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, nominated nomi-nated Gourde because of his outstanding scholastic record and his desire to serve his country. "James is one of 42 nominated Utahns who will get the chance to attend one of the four U.S. military schools," said Hatch. "James is among the few who have excelled, a direct result of many years of hard work and personal per-sonal discipline. It is a great honor and privilege for you to receive this appointment to the academy," Hatch Hat-ch told Gourde. "You have developed de-veloped unique leadership, physical and scholastic qualities which led to your selection by the academy. ' James was a National Merit Honorable Mention and a member of the National Honor Society. He was involved in athletics, participating par-ticipating on the football and wrestling wrestl-ing teams. He was named Most Inspirational In-spirational Wrestler and played on the lacrosse team. He is the son of Richard and Catherine Gourde of Bountiful. |
