Editor ' Water, and how to get it to the newly annexed subdivisions of Enoch, was once again the major topic of the Enoch Town Board meeting Feb. 18. Cost of the new pipeline and hook-ups to the new residents' homes were the main points of. interest, in-terest, with projected costs going down on one hand and increasing on another. Consulting engineer Phylip Leslie of Coon, King and Knowlton announced an-nounced the results of earlier bid openings on the construction of and material for the new water line to . the subdivisions. sub-divisions. He said that he was pleasantly surprised to note that the total of the two bids was almost from the required collection. Also, people who are unable to pay for the service or who are physically unable to haul their own garbage will have it collected and hauled by the town free of charge. Again, formal application through a letter must be made. In addition, the board approved a $50 penalty for abuse of the plan by not hauling as promised or by using the service without paying for it. The proposals passed unanimously. In other business " The board rescinded earlier action and again made the speed limit on the Midvalley Road 30 miles per hour. The action was taken after being requested by ; Deputy " Sheriff Norm Hulet. The board reauested Hulet to enforce the city dog ordinance. Dogs will be hauled away if not on a leash or under immediate control. Citations and fines will also be levied. The crack-down was precipitated by recent incidences of children being bitten by dogs in the valley. The board also unanimously approved the changing of a policy which gave water bill payers, a 10 percent discount if the bill was paid within ten days. There will no longer be any discount. The board approved the raising of the salary of Water Commissioner Stanford Jones from $250 per month to $500 per month, plus a $150 per month gas and vehicle allowance. Christensen is a resident of Spanish Trails, one of the newly annexed subdivisions; and he and newly-appointed newly-appointed Planning Commissioner Robert Rasmussen were both sworn in that evening. All the town board members and the planning commissioners serve without pay. The town board that evening also tackled and solved a problem similar to one that has been plaguing the Iron County Commission for some time now garbage collection. The board approved a motion establishing a town ordinance that requires garbage collection by the town or its contractor. However, there are exceptions. If someone shows the board, through a letter, that they can and will efficiently collect and haul their own garbage, they can be exempted - " $8,000 less than the engineer's estimates. However, later in the meeting it was pointed out that residents of the four subdivisions would be required to pay a $100 per lot water storage fee to Enoch Town. It was understood by many in earlier discussions that this charge would be borne either by the town or the developers of the subdivisions. sub-divisions. However, such may not be the case. There is some hope, according to board members, that at least part of the cost can be paid by the sell of the water tanks and pumps in the subdivisions; however, it was not quite clear at that time who owned the equipment the subdivision water companies or the developer. Board members pointed out that this charge was levied to all new buildings built in the town limits, even if annexed an-nexed in later. Awarding of the bids for the parts and construction con-struction of the water line was tabled until the next meeting until Leslie and other officials could guarantee that the money for payment would be available. However, the low bidder for the equipment was Waterworks Equipment Company, at |
