Wayne Melling Adam Duane Lanioreaux Lyle Murray Harrison Merilyn Ruth Callison Tonja Coranne Widick 1 K if r i Senior students from Cedar and Parowan high schools were chosen last week to represent their schools as Sterling Scholar finalists. These finalists, 12 from Cedar High School and 9 from Parowan High School, will compete at Southern Utah State College Apr. 9. A winner and two runners-up will' be chosen from each category. Each winner will receive a $200 cash award, and each runner-up, runner-up, a $100 cash award to help defray educational costs at a university or college of his choice. The Sterling Scholar program has grown greatly during the past years in this part of the state. This year there were 11 high schools from southwest Utah participating, par-ticipating, with 98 finalists chosen. The finalists from Cedar High School are Michael Leon Chidester, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leon Chidester, in English; Marilyn Tebbs, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Ray Tebbs, in performing arts; W. Wayne Melling, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Joe Melling, in mathematics; Adam Duane Lamoreaux, son of Mr. and Mrs. Duane Lamoreaux, in social science; Lyle Murray Harrison, son of Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Harrison, in science; and Merilyn Ruth Callison, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Callison, in foreign language. Also! named as finalists for CHS were Tonja Coranne Widick, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marion Widick, in visual arts; Starla Wendella Pittser, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Pittser, in vocational education; Jennifer Hunter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Antone Hunter, in homemaking; Cindy D'On Leslie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Phylip Leslie, in business education; Leslie Peterson, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Dale Peterson, in , music; and William Tsun, son of Mr. and Mrs. David Tsun, in general scholarship. Finalists at PHS are John Rex, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Rex, in English; Todd Robinson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Antone Robinson, performing per-forming arts; Willard K. Terrill, nephew of John L. and Anne Rowley, in mathematics; Jill Stubbs, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alan Stubbs, in social science; and Jimmy Robinson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Robinson, in science. Other finalists were Kenneth Loosley, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Loosley, in visual arts; Dan Adams, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tebbs Adams, in vocational education; Brent Stapley, son of Dr. and Mrs. Dee El Stapley, in music; and Michael Webb, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Ledbetter, in general scholarship.
