Carter, who led the Redmen to an undefeated regular season last year, has been the starting quarterback at Cedar High for the past two and one-half years". He was an all-region player as quarterback as a junior. The 6-1, 195-pounder also played free safety and was the punter for the Redmen. "Needless to say, we are extermely pleased that Dave decided to enroll at SUSC," Jack Bishop, SUSC head coach, says. "He's the same type of quarterback as Dave Mollica, who will graduate; he's a real threat on rollout plays because he is a good passer and an excellent runner. I'd have to say that Dave's probably one of the most outstanding football players to come from Cedar High School." In addition to lettering in football for three seasons, Carter also earned three letters in baseball, two in track, and one in basketball. He 'indicates that he may also try out for the Thunderbird baseball team. "Hike it at SUSC, and I really want to play quarterback," Carter indicates. "I do like to play defense, but I prefer offense, and I think I'll get the chance here." During his senior year at CHS, Carter passed for 870 yards and ran for an additional 600. He also punted for an average of over 35 yards and was a regular on defense for David Carter |
