Show Golfers net first place Betty Hart, LaRue Larson, Butch Reigh and Fran Clark posted top honors in the SPE-AIME Women's Petroleum Days Golf Tournament Friday with a 73 tally. The team posted scores of 37 and 36 and won $25 each. Hole scores were: 3-5-4-5-4-5-4-4-3 and 3-4-5-4-5-4-4-4-3. Gerrie Buckalew, Joan Samuels, Geris Pilcher and Karen Huber placed second at 75. Each golfer won $20. Gin-ny Gin-ny Denton, Kim Mowry, Linda Floyd, Marie Pace and June Dotson, Judy Roberts, Sherri Pilcher, Estalla Shaw tied for third place at 76 and won $15 each. Two teams tied for fifth place at 79. Helen Melton, Lucille Phillips, Isla Swain, Corrine Pease and Jean Johnson, Wilma Lee, Jill Pope, Nancy Stroh recorded 79 tallies. Lorraine Higgins, Elaine Gurr, Diane Mauss, and Mae Oberhansley netted scores of 80. Fern Baker, Sheryl Gates, Vel Sorensen, Wilma Webb and Nina Pease, Lucille Cook, Virginia Garner. Renae Murray posted 81 scores. Linda Hart, JoAnn Caldwell, Jackie Harrison and Esther Sturgeon recorded 82 tallies. Forty ladies from Vernal, Rangely and Roosevelt played in the tournament which was a scramble. After the tournament tour-nament a luncheon was held. The Vernal Ladies Golf Association's play of the day Wednesday was: "Draw for hole you can throw out." June Dot-son Dot-son nabbed top honors with a score of 39. In 1829, Ohio legislators enacted a statute authorizing author-izing the first night school classes in the nation. |
