Also shown was a prize-winning movie on Flaming Gorge, presented by Lee Skabelund from the Forest Service. Bill Tennant, news director for the Grand Junction TV station had prepared the one tape after visiting the Jarvie place, the cemetery and the old Brown's Park school. Esther Campbell Crandall was interviewed because she was the last school teacher there. The second video-tape told of the noted outlaw Thankgsiving celebration held in 1895, also interviewing Esther, who intimately knows the history of the Browns Park area. She also told the group about this occasion and then the reinactment of this Thanksgiving party which was done by a women's club to which she belonged. The outlaws who inhabited this remote area because of its safety from the law, wished to show their appreciation to the settlers who had always been friendly to them and didn't interfere in the business affairs of the outlaws. They gave a Thanksgiving party for the settlers at the Davenport ranch which was attended by about 35 guests. Outlaws Butch Cassidy and Elza Lay greeted the gate and then helped serve the formal dinner. Isom Dart, dressed as a chef, prepared the feast of roast turkey and Bluepoint oysters, potatoes, peas, pumpkin pie and plum pudding. The settlers furnished their best linen, china and silverware. John Jarvie was master of ceremonies. Musical entertainment was furnished by Ada Morgan and others who sang accompanied on the accordian by Jarvie. The festive evening concluded with dancing. There were thirteen nationalities represented at this unusual occasion, which was the last such for several of the men who were murdered shortly after, including Jarvie, Isom Dart and Shaw.
