Show Ken Stringham dies at 74 Kenneth Ralph Stringham, 74, of Vernal, died May 14, 1982 in the St. Mark's Hospital in Salt Lake City. Born May 4, 1908 in Vernal, he was the son of Briant H. and Delphia Rolfe Stringham. He married Verlie Anderson Jan. 15, 1938 in Duchesne. He was a merchant, owner of Ken's Sporting Goods and former sheep rancher. He was a member of the LDS Church, served an LDS mission to South Africa in 1929, attended BYU where he organized his own band, member and past president of the Vernal Chamber of Commerce, member and past president of the Ashley Woolgrowers Association and served as clerk of the Junior Livestock Show for 25 years. He also was a charter member and commander of the Uintah Search and Rescue Patrol, member of the Dinah-mites, former president of the Vernal Horse Racing Association, and served as president of the Dinosaur Roundup Rodeo Committee. Stringham of Vernal and mother, Mrs. Delford (Delphia) Ruland of Portland, Ore.; grandchildren, Bret, Bart, Chad, Kara, Jillyn, Shawn and Sheri Stringham Str-ingham and Charley and Kenny Mohan; great grandchildren, Julie and Amber Stringham; brothers and sisters, Mrs. Carl (Dorothy) Searle of Santa Clara and Vernal, Mrs. Catherine Hatch of Vernal, Stephen B. of Vernal; Dr. Paul G. of Vernal and Ned M. of Blackfoot, Idaho. He was preceded in death by a son Kary Duane. Funeral services were Tuesday, May 18 at the Vernal 5th Ward Chapel. The family prayer was by Ned M. Stringham, brother. President Glade Anderson gave the invocation at the service. Bishop Roger I. Allred gave some remarks and Woodey Searle spoke. A tribute was rendered by the children of DeAnn Stringham. "Home On the Range" was sung by Dorothy Peltier and Daun White accompanied by Melba Eaton. Ralph Siddoway spoke. Mrs. Peltier and Mrs. White sang "Whispering Pines." Melvin Anderson gave the benediction. Mrs. Lorna Condon played the prelude and postlude music. Burial was in the Vernal Memorial Park Cemetery. Terry Anderson dedicated the grave. Pallbearers were Merlin Walker, Gary Maxson, Coke Jefferies, Kent McCurdy, Doug Phillips and Dwight Wetenkamp. Honorary pallbearers were the Dinah-mites and the Search and Rescue. The Vernal 5th Ward Relief Society was. in charge of the flowers. |
