Walz WM DREAMING OF GENIE Genie Francis who catapulted catapult-ed to fame as Laura on ABC's daytime tearjerker "Gen- eral Hospital" and then shocked the world when she bowed out due to mental and physical exhaustion, will return to TV in a blockbuster mini-series for CBS. Miss Francis will portray a foxy ingenue named Tyger in "Bare Essence" from Warner Bros. Television, which is now in production in New York and Los Angeles. The show, based on Meredith Rich's best-selling novel, focuses on a power struggle at a billion dollar perfume corporation. Linda Evans ("Dynasty") and Donna Mills ("Knot's Landing") also have been signed to the cast. POST-ER BOY TV theme composer Mike Post is working hard on new projects. Post, who has enjoyed success with his themes from "Magnum P.I" and "Hill St. Blues," is now scoring "Tales of the Brass Monkey" and "The Quest" for ABC and "Gloria" for CBS. When he has the time, Post also produces LPs for Engelbert Humperdinck and John Schneider ("Dukes of Hazzard"). OVERSEAS INTRIGUE Although "Q.E.D.," the Anglo-American sci-fi series has done poorly in the ratings, CBS has gone ahead and ordered seven additional addi-tional scripts. Sam Waterston stars in the show as Quentin E. Deverill, a maverick scientist Hying in 1912 England, who uses his wit and knowledge to solve mysteries. Undaunted Undaunt-ed by "Q.E.D.'s" performance, the network also plans to make "Riviera," another series using an overseas crew. The action-adventure series is supposed to go before the cameras later this year in Cote d' Azur in southern France.
