The presentation filmed, produced and directed by Mr. Howard. Mike was MCfa! the evening. He is the immediate past president of the Ve Lions Club and presently is the chairman of Zone D of OLstrS 28 of the Utah Lions Club. 'a Rick Howard presents Lions Club travel film Rick Howard presented the Lion's Club second travel and adventure film series at the Vernal Jr. High School, Sat., 8 p.m, March 7. Born in Santa Monica, Calif., Rick holds a BA degree in radio, television and film from California State University. Univer-sity. He has spent over a year and a half traveling the four corners of the world. Rick spent 8 months in the Philippines filming the adventure presentation. His .love of the water sport surfing was responsible for sending Rick around the world in search of new beaches to surf. Meeting up with a surfing surf-ing friend in the Philippines, he and his friend, Clark, proved to the Philippine government through photography that the islands had potential competitive surf. The Philippine government employed Rick and Clark through the Philippine Department of Tourism to do a photo-documentary on the surfing waves of the 7,100 islands. After eight months Rick and Clark completed their personal and vocational voca-tional ambitions. Clark returned to California to present to his financial backers one of the future sites for a world w ide surfing championship to be held in three years. Clark took his film footage and began touring with the film. Clark and Rick are credited for being two of the first people to introduce surfing sur-fing into the Philippine Islands. Rick, was able to film "never-before" "never-before" filmed shots of places and people peo-ple on the islands, for example the Mountain People of the islands and their head hunting caves ceremonies and the custom of oil''.' pearl farming. k' Another unique incident which pened to Clark and Rick while li the islands was that the governed president of the Philippines was a movie.
