Show jy -: v - - LEWIS VAN MASSEY Lewis Massey dies at 94 Lewis Van Massey, 94, died in the Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, March 8, 1981. ' He was born April 1, 1886 in Boon County, W. VA., to John D. and Synthia Frances Jarrell Massey. He married Maybell Young Glennville Thacker Dec. 1, 1906 in Daniels, Wasatch County. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was a member of the Vernal First Ward, a High Priest and home teacher most of his life. Survivors are sons and daughters, Lewis Leroy, Mrs. Melvin (Mable) . Neiberger, Mrs. R.J. (Pearl) Stubbs, . Mrs. Grant (LaPreal) Southam, Edwin and Norman all of Vernal, Mrs. Jerry M. (Lois) Hatch of Fruita, Colo., John D. of Salt Lake City, Joseph Zelph of Farmington, N.M., Mrs. Sylvan (Wanda) Reynolds of Roosevelt, Don of Mack, Colo.; 66 grandchildren, 108 great grandchildren; 69 great great grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Merle M. Ross of Roosevelt and Mrs. Hazel M. Gurr of Las Vegas, Nev. Funeral services were at the Vernal First Ward Chapel, Thursday, Nov. 12, 1981 with Bishop Floyd Campbell conducting. Joseph Z. Massey, son, gave the family prayer. A musical "Because He Lives" was sung by Lurae Caldwell and Virginia Ewell. Following remarks by Bishop Campbell, a life sketch and obituary was given by Betty J. Richardson, granddaughter. , Dorothy Peltier and Daun White sang "These Hands," accompanied by Melba Eaton. Arza Adams spoke and . "How Great Thou Art" was sung by O.W. Farr accompanied by Venice ' Farr. Lamond Tullis spoke and "Silver " Haired Daddy " was" sang by Les and " . Dale Thacker, Grant Southam, son-in-law, gave some remarks and a medley was sung by Robin Reynolds accompanied ac-companied by Marilyn Peterson, Michael Brady, grandson, gave the benediction. Prelude and postlude music was by Florence Lee. Lyle Southam, grandson, dedicated the grave. Pallbearers were sons Roy Massey, John D. Massey, Joseph Z. Massey, Edwin Massey, Norman Massey, Donnelly Massey. Honorary pallbearers were High Priests and grandsons. Vernal First Ward Relief Society was in charge of flowers. Interment In-terment was in the Vernal Memorial Park. . |
