At the age of eleven, Ellen gave her own recital in Provo, under the direction of Paul Pollei, professor of music at Brigham Young University. Since 1977 Ellen has been studying with Gary Amano, professor of music at USU. "I enjoy the self-satisfaction I get from working hard at the piano," said Mrs. Christenson. "It is easy to love piano when you are taking lessons from a professor that loves teaching." Added, to his many performance credits, Mr. Amano has performed in the Uintah Basin and is a favorite as an adjudicator and lecturer for music contests held locally. Ellen was on the Deans list at USU and is currently teaching students in the Youth Conservatory Program at the university.
