Show Whitewater Kayak course to begin March 21 The Vernal Community Education Program is pleased to announce a first time offering of Whitewater kayak instruction. The course will consist of three two-hour sessions in the Community Com-munity Pool and two trips on portions of the Green River. There will be instruction in basic propulsion and steering strokes, bracing and recovery strokes, the Eskimo roll, reading moving water, and controlling the kayak in rapids. Serious emphasis will be placed on safety and rescue procedures at all times. The course is open to anyone over sixteen years. Paddlers will need to supply their own equipment. Pool sessions will be Saturdays from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., beginning March 21; river segments will be scheduled with deference to individual and meteorological quirks. Class size is limited to eight.
