Show Snow surveys indicate below average moisture Snow Survey information from the Soil Conservation Service for March 1 show irrigation water supply to be well below average. Soil moisture is also below average for this time of year. On the Whiterocks River and Dry Fork drainage at Mosby Mountain there is 16 inches of snow with 3.6 inches in-ches of water; this is 47 percent of average. The rain guage has caught 7.62 inches of water since Oct. 1; this is 72 percent of average. At Paradise Park there is 28 inches of snow with 7.6 inches of water; this is 76 percent of average. The rain guage catch from October is 79 percent of average. On Brush Creek drainage at King's Cabin Upper there is 22 inches of snow with 5.4 inches of water; this is 67 percent of average. Grizzly Ridge has 16 inches of snow with 4.0 inches of water; this is 50 percent of average. On the north slope of the Uintas at Spirit Lake there is 32 inches of snow with 8.6 inches of water; this is 89 percent of average. The rain guage from Oct. 1 is 92 percent of average. At Hickerson Park there is 17 inches of snow with 4.4 inches of water; this is 88 percent of average. Snow cover is 69 percent of average on Uinta Whiterocks drainage and 63 percent of average on Ashley Creek watershed. Reservoir storage at Steinaker is 26,700 acre feet; this is 122 percent of average. Stream flow forecasts for April to July: Ashley Creek 42,000 acre feet, 82 percent of average; Whiterocks River 67,000 acre feet, 83 percent of average; Uinta River 67,000 acre feet, 76 percent of average. |
