UTES DUMP MANILA, 66-35 Uintah basketball continued its winning winn-ing ways when the Utes under Coach Doug Moon traveled to Manila and trounced them 66-35. Uintah now ranks number two in Utah class B standings. The highly effective Walker twins scored in double figures to lead the Utes to a third straight win. Doug Jones turn ed in another quality performance scoring scor-ing 12 points from the floor. "Up until the last quarter it was a close game," Coach Moon said. Coach Brent Williams Mustangs stayed with the Utes the entire first quarter by alternating their zone defenses. They would shift from a 2-1-2 zone to a 1-3-1 zone, keeping Uintah off balance until the first half. An adjustment was made to the shifting shif-ting defenses, however, and the Utes started getting the good shots to pull the game away in the final quarter. Coach Moon remarked that his players all put in good efforts, and set a torrid pace on defense-a key Ute strategy, which had let the Uintah five keep their opponents under 40 points two games running. |
