Tibbies to receive award Jane Sowards Tibbies, former Vernal resident, will be honored with a Distinguished Service award, for her service on the Board of Regents at Utah State University. Mrs. Tibbies will also be honored at a banquet on Oct. 31. Her brothers Kenneth and Glade and families will be in attendance and her sister Hazel Soward Cannon, now living in Salt Lake City, will be among the invited in-vited guests. Mrs. Tibbies was student-body student-body president while attending Uintah High School and valedictorian at graduation. She was a member of the East Seal Board for 20 years. Mrs. Inez Cooper, of Cedar City, wife of the late Lawrence Cooper, is a candidate can-didate for the Utah House of Representatives Represen-tatives from that area. She lived in Vernal Ver-nal for many years where her husband Lawrence taught in Uintah High School and both were active in church and civic affairs. Inez is a native of Canada.
