Show 30 YEARS AGO October 19, 1950 In a stirring address Wednesday evening of last week, Dr. F.G. Eskelson told members of the Vernal Lions Club that government controlled medical service and hospitals would bring to the American people a condition that has become distasteful in England and harks back to communist dominated Russia and a deteriorated democracy. He said he could not see how people who enjoy the benefits of our land of freedom would want to trade this heritage for something that has failed in other countries. He told of the nationwide program being launched by the American Medical Association and endorsed by 10,000 great organizations opposing "Compulsory Health Insurance." Among the large group who have endorsed en-dorsed the move are the American Legion, General Foundation of Women's Clubs, American Bureau Federation of Women's Clubs, American Bureau Federation, National Grange and dozens of others said the speaker. Doctors of this nation are grateful that the people refuse to be wooed by the fantastic promises of this un-American un-American excursion into State Socialism. And the thing they stand ready to fight for sacrifice for to die for, in not the alien way of life of Socialism, but the prideful security of a free and self-reliant people. |
