Show U. president to visit alumni here University of Utah President David P. Gardner will meet with U alumni from Duchesne, Uintah and Daggett counties at a dinner in Vernal on Tuesday, Oct. 28. He will update the groups on current challenges and opportunities op-portunities at the U. The gatherings are part of an Alumni Association effort to organize active chapters throughout the state, according ac-cording to Glade M. Sowards of Vernal, a state senator and president of a family-owned gas distribution company, com-pany, who is serving as district alumni leader for the area. He graduated from the U College of Business in 1954 and was named an outstanding student in accounting. "Too many alumni outside the Wasatch Front have had virtually no contact with the U since the day they left," Sowards says. "We want to change that and create an opportunity for them to become involved again." The local chapters plan to sponsor four or five social and educational meetings each year. The dinner is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Weston's lamplighter Inn. The cost of the meal is $6 per person. Anyone who had attended the U is considered to be an alumnus. Reservations Reser-vations can be made by contacting the University of Utah Alumni Association, toll-free, at 800-662,0062, extension 6995.
