Show String program gets pre-enrollment praise The 1980 enrollment for the Vernal Youth Orchestra will be Thursday, Oct. 23 at 7:30 p.m. in the Vernal Junior High School Band Room. During the meeting, orchestra rehearsals and sectional group lessons will be scheduled. Class fees, materials and instrument rental, for those who do not have an instrument, will be arranged. Auditions for the intermediate in-termediate orchestra will also be scheduled. The student response to the orchestra program has been excellent, said Ora Fay Oviatt, director. Elementary students were asked to return a slip to Mrs. Oviatt if they were interested in playing a stringed instrument and join the orchestra this year. 430 elementary students indicated that they would like to participate in the orchestra program this year, Mrs. Oviatt said. "We are thrilled at the eagerness of these students to play in the orchestra," or-chestra," Mrs. Oviatt commented. "I'm sure 1980 will be a banner year for strings in the Vernal area." All elementary PTAs have endorsed the orchestra program and the president of each PTA sent a letter to the parents of each child who handed in a slip encouraging the parents to support sup-port their child in his choice of instrument. ; c Jk - - J h YOUTH ORCHESTRA MEMBERS prepare for enrollme? p tightening up their bows and playing a few notes.
