Remodeling of the Vernal City Police Department offices, second floor of City Hall, is near completion and is an effort to make a better use of space, Chief Robert Downard said. The total redesign of the police department began July 6, and for the exception of minor touch up work, the project is completed. Vernal police remodeling nears completion is equipped with a one-way mirror to allow victims to identify persons in a line-up without being seen. The reception area of the office features a windshield-type glass receiving window and a buzzer controlled controll-ed door. Entrance to the office is controlled con-trolled by an automatic lock and buzzer to announce entrance. According to Chief Downard, the v redesign of the department as an intermediate in-termediate step until the police force grows. The office is also equipped with updated evidence storage. Officers will place evidence in small locking boxes and deposit the key. The evidence officer of-ficer will then be the only officer with access to the evidence with a main key. Downard said the remodeling will be totally complete within a few weeks. Total cost of the remodeling is $35,000. |
