Show C Manila .Clara Robinson Phone 784-3463 M & L Homemakers plan festivities M&L Homemakers Club met at the Senior Citizen Center Thursday, Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. Plans were made for the Thanksgiving Dinner and the Christmas Christ-mas party. Both events will be held at the Senior Citizen Center this year. The Thanksgiving dinner will be on Nov. 20. The date for the Christmas party has t been set. Members brought white elephant items for bazaar grab bags at the October meeting. The bazaar will be at 7 p.m. on Nov. 5, at the Senior Citizen Center. "It" packages were won by Fern Ferrero, Linda Slaugh, Joyce Long, and Clara Robinson. Hostesses for the evening were Margery Hullinger, Aleta Ellsworth, Linda Slaugh and Gloria Neff. The Relief Society's "Country Fair" was a colorful event and netted over a thousand dollars to be used to help build the new addition on the present chapel. ; Booths were decorated as though it i was really a "Country Fair". Even the i stage was set apart with colored paper streamers as to form a little cafe where people could en joy4he delicious dinneFi' which was served. Bazaar items, baked goods, and candy were for sale including in-cluding such items as butter, canned food, jams, jellies and relishes, live plants. There was a fish pond for the children. Juanita Ellsworth reminds us that there is only one more registration day before the Nov. 4 election. This is Oct. 28. On Nov. 4, the polls will open at. 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. There are two voting districts in Daggett County. One is in Dutch John and one in Manila. Daggett County schools had a holiday Monday, Oct. 20, for deer season. Deer season opened in Utah on Saturday, Oct. 18. Some have already bagged their deer and left for other places. Deer could be seen on pickups. Manila residents have been able to get some of their deer too. During the day those at home can hear shots outside the town which reminds them that this is deer season. Manila LDS Elders are sponsoring an auction on Nov. 15. The proceeds from this auction is to help build the addition to the new chapel. These men hope to out-do the Relief Society women who just held the "Country Fair." Mrs. Elsie Twitchell is in Renton, Wash., visiting her children. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Neff and children of Salt Lake City visited with Roberts parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Neff this past weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Cottle of Salt Lake City visited with Mrs. Cottle's son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Cloyd Reed and children this weekend. Some of the members of the M&L Homemaker's Club attended the Damsel's Club bazaar in Dutch John, on Oct. 15. A region volleyball game will be held at Duchesne for the Manila and Duchesne players. Last week Manila played at Altamont. Oct. 24 will be Drama Night at the Manila High School. On Oct. 29 the Manila High School German class will hold an "Oktober-fest" "Oktober-fest" for invited guests. There will be a Halloween carnival on Oct. 30. Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Steinaker, Sr. attended the Star Route Mail Carriers Convention in Durango, Colo., on Oct. 11-12. While there they visited with some of Mrs. steinaker's former high school friends. They then drove to Phoenix, Ariz., and visited two of Elbert's cousins. The visited the Grand Canyon but there was four inches of snow. There was 1.29 inches of moisture in the storm this past week. Nighttime temperatures at the weather station dropped to 27 above zero. Sunday was very pleasant and temperatures have risen again. The storm put down 3 inches in-ches of snow on the heaviest moisture day and brought .75 of moisture. |
