The Vernal Junior High Panthers will be gunning for their seventh win of the season when they invade Colorado for a battle with Craig, Thursday at 4 p.m. Vernal has a record of 6 wins and 2 losses. The Panthers have defeated Rangley, West, twice; Duchesne and Criag. Vernal has suffered losses to Roosevelt and Rock Springs. "We better get ready to play or we will get beat. Craig has a real good tailback who runs real good dives. options and counters," stated Vernal Junior High football coach, Leon Smuin. The Panthers downed Craig in Vernal, 28 to 12 on September 27. Probably starters for the Panthers are: Troy Oaks, center; Craig Fries, Quinn Trujillo, guards; Steve Luck, Leslie Smith, tackles; Gary Swim, Mike Lance, ends; Lloyd Merkley, quarterback; Mike Robbins, fullback; Kurt Robb, tailback and Nelson Smuin or Murray Johnson, wingback. |
