Show Who was 'Old Bob'? A group of 46 members and interested persons attended the monthly meeting of the Uintah Historical Society on Oct. 14. Wanda Staley introduced Kerry Ross Boren, as speaker of the evening. He related the research and checking he has done in connection with the finding fin-ding of the fate of the Butch Cassidy outlaw gang. Heretofore, reports indicated that the Butch Cassidy gang had all been killed in a confrontation with Brazilian officials of-ficials in South America. Kerry's travels and investigation took him to many towns and locations in this search. sear-ch. He retraced the travels and reports of the gang's activities until he learned of an old man named "Old Bob" in Johnny, Nev., whose history and , evidence pointed to the fact that he was, indeed, Butch Cassidy. "Old Bob" was buried in Johnny, Nev. He also told of an old man named Hyrum Beede, who was a lawbreaker and was convicted for killing Marshall Larsen in Mt. Pleasant, Plea-sant, Utah. Beede wrote a manuscript of his biography which proved beyond a doubt that he is in reality the "Sundance "Sun-dance Kid". Beede died in the Utah State Prison where he was serving a life sentence for the killing of Marshall Larsen. Kerry showed his collection of photos of the early outlaws. The next meeting is scheduled for Nov. 11, at the Golden Age Center. |
